Radiation Producing Machines Program

The Radiation Producing Machines section registers, maintains records, tracks and inspects all sources of electronic radiation producing machines as per  902 KAR 100. Possession and use of any radiation producing machine in the state of Kentucky requires a valid active registration.  Any person bringing a radiation producing machine into the state shall give written notice at least (2) days prior to entry.

The program additionally reviews and approves all shielding plans, Qualified Expert and Vendor/Service Provider applications.  Additionally, the program inspects mammography facilities under a cost reimbursement contract with the FDA to assure facilities are meeting the requirements of the Mammography Quality Standards Act.
