Our department knows that communication access is important. We work with our community partners to improve access and the kinds of care Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and DeafDisabled people can get in Kentucky.
Community Mental Health Centers
Having people who understand your language and culture is important. Two of our Community Mental Health Centers (CMHCs) have therapists and case managers who are Deaf or who sign. Find out more below:
Peer Support Services for Mental Health
Asking for help can be hard. Want to meet someone else who experiences mental health or addiction / substance use challenges? Our peer support specialists can help!
Peer Support Services for Substance Use / Addiction
Interested in stopping or reducing your use of drugs or alcohol? Recovery community centers (RCCs) in Kentucky will provide interpreters or other communication access if you request it. The Recovery Cafe in Lexington and Frankfort also has a Deaf peer support specialist part-time.
Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities
The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services team works with other agencies to help make services and supports more accessible.
