Kentucky Health Information Exchange Coordinating Council

CHFS Secretary Janie Miller executed an administrative order on Feb. 23, 2010 creating the Kentucky Health Information Exchange Coordinating Council, attached to the Governor's Office of Electronic Health Information (GOEHI).

The 23-member council will advise GOEHI and help develop guiding principles and detailed policies and procedures to support administration and operation of the Kentucky Health Information Exchange (KHIE), which provides the technical infrastructure for statewide electronic exchange of health information.

Administrative Order Creating Kentucky Health Information Exchange Coordinating Council

Members of the KHIE Coordinating Council and its six committees were appointed on May 28, 2010. Members were was drawn from health care providers; regional health information organizations; health plans; patient or consumer organizations; health information technology vendors; public health agencies; universities and colleges; clinical researchers; and other users of health information technology including health practice managers and care coordinators.

The council will assist GOEHI in studying, with expert opinion and stakeholder input, critical issues related to health information exchange at the state, regional and local levels, including the development of policies and procedures to guide implementation and operation of the Kentucky Health Information Exchange.
