Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Health Care Transparency

The Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Health Care Transparency (KRS 216.2923) promotes access to health care information for consumers and conducts research on transparent health care issues that help people become more informed consumers.

The committee advises the secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services regarding data collection, analysis and distribution of consumer-oriented information related to Kentucky's health care system. This includes information regarding the cost of treatment and procedures, outcomes, quality indicators and policies and regulations to implement the electronic collection and transmission of patient information and other cost-saving patient record systems. The committee is made up of:

  • Commissioner, state Department for Public Health
  • Commissioner, state Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities 
  • Commissioner, state Department for Medicaid Services
  • Executive Director, state Office of Insurance
  • Physician representative
  • Hospital representative
  • Consumer representative
  • Non-physician representative
  • Insurer representative
