Governor Visits CHR
Governor Ernie Fletcher paid a visit to the CHR Complex Dec. 8. After a tour of the Cabinet, the governor addressed CHFS staff in the Health Services Auditorium, touching on topics including employee health care, Medicaid modernization, tobacco cessation efforts and the tobacco excise tax and economic development. Governor Fletcher also praised the hard work and excellence of the CHFS workforce and expressed his appreciation for employees' professionalism and outstanding record of achievement and success.
The governor also used the opportunity to commend outgoing CHFS Secretary James Holsinger, M.D. for his leadership and unwavering support and advocacy on behalf of Kentucky's children and families. He also welcomed incoming Cabinet Secretary Mark Birdwhistell and applauded the new secretary's work to date on the difficult and complex issue of Medicaid modernization and expressed his confidence in Birdwhistell's ability and dedication to accomplish great things on behalf of the Cabinet and the people of Kentucky.
Before departing, Governor Fletcher wished everyone a Merry Christmas and reminded us not to overindulge in holiday goodies.
