Learn More about New Child Care Facility Regulations

 Forums Planned to Educate Providers  

A series of statewide forums will be held in June to help update all certified home providers and owners about new regulations regarding child care facilities. The forums will be hosted by the Division of Regulated Child Care Facilities in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ (CHFS) Office of Inspector General (OIG).

The forums are designed to improve child care homes and facilities in Kentucky by educating providers about new regulations and how to implement them. At each event, OIG staff will be present to explain the new regulations and answer questions from owners and providers.

“Provider awareness and education are essential as we work to implement new regulations to address the health and safety needs of Kentucky’s children,” said Inspector General Sadiqa N. Reynolds. “The Office of Inspector General wants to work with all providers to ensure they fully understand and are following the new regulations. Our ultimate responsibility is to the children of Kentucky and making sure they are protected.”

The forums will offer information regarding the new certified family child care home regulations, which can be accessed at www.chfs.ky.gov/oig/drcc. Participants are encouraged to read the new regulations, which take effect July 1, prior to attending the forums.

The OIG believes that by working with providers to educate them about child care facility regulations and standards, business owners and staff will be better equipped to care for children in their facilities. The goal is to make sure the provider community understands the intent of each regulation and that each health and safety guideline is properly followed.
