Welcome To Kentucky-Electronic Public Health Record System (KY-EPHRS) Web Site

Welcome to the Kentucky Electronic Public Health Record System (KY-EPHRS) Web site.   KY-EPHRS is an Internet-based, centralized public health data repository.  It is intended to be used by health care professionals to record public health data for the over 4 million Kentucky residents.  To protect patient/person information, technologies such as secure socket layer and role-based access are used to protect confidential information and ensure patient privacy.

KY-EPHRS currently has two active modules, Pre-event Vaccination System (PVS) and Disease Surveillance.  Several more modules are planned for the coming years.  These include, but are not limited to, a state-wide Immunization Registry and Newborn Screening/Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.

Each Department for Public Health (DPH) program will have a customized interface to suit their needs.  KY-EPHRS uses a patient-centric integrated data repository.  This allows patient demographic data to be centralized in a “base” system and shared among the different DPH programs.  This reduces data entry and paperwork as well as increases the ability to monitor the safety and health of the Kentucky population.

This secure Web site and system(s) was made possible through several federal grants.  It is intended to be used to implement and analyze public health programs and to fulfill state and federal public health reporting requirements.

The KY-EPHRS staff also supports the Health Alert Network (HAN), an Internet-based system currently in use across the state.  This system is used by local officials in each county/district to alert emergency personnel in the event of a terrorist attack, a possible outbreak of infectious disease, a natural disaster, or a health emergency.
