KY Medicaid Eligibility Expansion Information

Medicaid is expanding to cover more people. Even if you haven't been eligible in the past, you may qualify under the new rules. Enrollment for expanded Medicaid begins Oct. 1, 2013, with coverage starting as early as Jan. 1, 2014.

You can apply for Medicaid, KCHIP or other health insurance through kynect, Kentucky's Healthcare Connection.

What is kynect?

kynect, Kentucky's Healthcare Connection

kynect is an easy way to apply for health insurance. You only need to fill out one application to find out if you can get Medicaid, KCHIP or other health insurance.

Even if you don't qualify for Medicaid, you may be able to get help with your health coverage bills, including:

  • Payment assistance for your monthly health insurance bill
  • Special discounts for your doctor visits, co-payments and deductibles

Will I qualify for coverage?

To be eligible for healthcare coverage through kynect, you:

  • Must live in Kentucky
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national (or meet qualified alien status)
  • Cannot currently be in prison
  • Must provide proof of income
