Governor's Service Awards
Lt. Gov. Luallen Honors Exemplary Volunteers; Service from 2014 recognized during ceremony at Governor’s Mansion
Lieutenant Governor Crit Luallen honored 14 groups and individuals from across the Commonwealth for their volunteer and service contributions at a ceremony in Frankfort on July 29. Lt. Gov. Luallen and Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) Secretary Audrey Tayse Haynes presented the Governor’s Service Awards at the Governor’s Mansion. The awards honored service completed in 2014.

AmeriCorps VISTA 50th Celebration
This year marks the 50th anniversary of AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service to America). The central Appalachian region celebrated the milestone at the AmeriCorps VISTA 50th Anniversary Community Solutions Spotlight at Berea College on Monday, June 29. The event brought together local experts, practitioners, current VISTA members and alumni from a cross-section of backgrounds to discuss innovative solutions to poverty. Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service
Kentucky is proud that 106 elected officials participated in the third annual event. Mayors and County Judge/Executives across Kentucky issued proclamations, met members and took photos. Kentucky was fourth in the nation for participation!

Statewide Build-A-Bed projects
On April 25, ATEAM and MSUCorps AmeriCorps programs, along with many community partners, will be building more than 460 beds for children in need in 10 sites across the Commonwealth.
MSUCorps build in Morehead/Rowan County (160 beds).
ATEAM's builds in the following nine counties: Barren, Crittenden, Daviess, Garrard, Graves, Hancock, Livingston, Marshall and Pulaski (300 beds).
Kentucky's Celebration of the AmeriCorps 20th Anniversary
2014 marked the 20th anniversary of AmeriCorps and Kentucky held a statewide celebration in downtown Louisville on Sept. 12, 2014, for AmeriCorps members and alumni serving in Kentucky.
